After $30 million in renovations, the Greektown Casino-Hotel in Detroit is changing its name. Owner and operator Penn National Gaming announced the decision today, with the venue becoming Hollywood Casino at Greektown on May 1. The name change comes as the casino has conducted several major renovations including its hotel rooms and lobby.
Major Changes to the Casino
The Greektown Casino is one of three commercial gaming facilities operating in Detroit. The recent renovations and name changes will help the property to stay competitive with its neighbors, MGM Detroit and MotorCity Casino.
The new Hollywood Casino in Greektown offers a new hotel lobby, complete with a cocktail bar. This is a new space the hotel is offering to guests. The hotel is home to 400 guest rooms and suites, all of which enjoyed a full redesign. The work is ongoing but Penn National expects it to be done within the next few months.
Guests can enjoy new dining options at the venue with an Urban Cocktail spot along with Detroit Taco Company. A unique Dunkin’ is also in the mix along with Rock Bar. Hollywood Casino at Greektown general manager John Drake commented on the new change by stating:
“Becoming Hollywood Casino at Greektown will offer our guests the best of both worlds. We’re keeping all of the unique, neighborhood charm that has defined Greektown since we opened our doors, while adding several new amenities that come with being a part of Penn National’s flagship brand family.”
Tech Feature Added and Parking Changes
The Michigan property also has a new tech feature and parking renovations, along with the hotel redesign and dining additions. Guests at the casino will soon have access to mywallet, a new tech feature for the gaming floor. Mychoice, the rewards app of the casino, will offer mywallet, allowing guests to collect wins, add cash to play with, and earn points.
It’s a unique way to bring a modern aspect to casino gaming and one that players are sure to enjoy. It is unclear when the mywallet option will be added to mychoice. It is expected that players will take advantage of its many services.
For parking needs, guests have access to new renovated options. Penn National used $1 million of its renovation budget to revamp the self-parking area and VIP parking. The VIP Garage was changed to offer better options for VIP guests. The area has over 700 parking spots and is connected to the gaming floor’s higher level.
As the renovations continue, Hollywood Casino at Greektown plans to celebrate in late May, recognizing the rebranding of the property on-site.
