In southern Mississippi, a local property developer has reportedly filed an application that could see it given permission to build a new casino on a 98.5-acre parcel of land located only a few miles from the 129-room Silver Slipper Casino Hotel.

Extensive exercise:

According to a Thursday report from the Sun Herald newspaper, Cure Land Company is headquartered in the nearby community of Lakeshore and wants its new gaming facility to feature a 300-room hotel alongside a 40,000 sq ft casino offering some 1,100 slots as well as approximately 22 gaming tables.

New Orleans draw:

The newspaper reported that the Mississippi Gaming Commission currently requires all new casinos in the southern state to encompass at least 50,000 sq ft of space alongside a high-end restaurant and a unique amenity designed to attract tourists from across the region. It additionally detailed that regulatory approval for the envisioned Hancock County facility could lead to its opening less than an hour’s drive from the Louisiana city of New Orleans by the end of 2021.

Landlord perks:

The Sun Herald reported that Cure Land Company, which is currently building a boutique hotel in the small area city of Bay St Louis, also owns the Silver Slipper Casino Hotel where its rent from operator, Full House Resorts Incorporated, is based on a percentage of the tenant’s casino revenues.

Sportsbetting success:

Lewis Fanger, Chief Financial Officer for Las Vegas-based Full House Resorts, reportedly told the newspaper that the recent introduction of a sportsbook inside the Silver Slipper Casino Hotel has led to the venue recording a 20% rise in quarter-on-quarter revenues. As such, his firm purportedly recently unveiled a plan that could see the property debut a second hotel tower alongside a new convention center, restaurant and meeting facilities.

Such envisioned additions for the Silver Slipper Casino Hotel are set to sit atop a pier offering panoramic views of the Gulf of Mexico and be connected to the venue’s existing amenities via a large covered corridor.

Long Beach plan:

The Gulf Coast region of Mississippi is currently home to twelve casinos although last month saw the state’s gaming regulator approve the site for the proposed Long Beach Harbor Resort. Local developer Long Beach Harbor Resorts LLC earlier proclaimed that it is hoping to eventually construct the region’s newest gambling venue on a twelve-acre parcel of seaside land in the small Harrison County community of Long Beach in order to offer a wide range of gambling services to patrons from across the southern United States.
