In the Philippines, the local property developer behind the under-construction Resorts World Westside City integrated casino resort has reportedly revealed that it will spend an additional $1.03 billion on the coming 76.6-acre project over the next decade.

According to a report from the Philippine Daily Inquirer newspaper, the commitment from Megaworld Corporation will take the Manila-listed firm’s total outlay for the coming Entertainment City venue to approximately $2.31 billion after it announced an initial budget of only $191.33 million in 2015.

The newspaper reported that Megaworld Corporation intends to utilize the extra funds to bring a pair of luxury hotels to Resorts World Westside City in the 685-room Grand Westside Hotel and 529-room Kingsford Hotel with both scheduled to open by the time the development’s casino begins welcoming players in 2021.

“We give our all-out support to the country’s growing tourism industry,” reportedly read a statement from Francis Canuto, Senior Vice-President for Megaworld Corporation. “Providing more hotel options will further boost tourist arrivals especially in this growth area.”

Alongside these hotels, Megaworld Corporation reportedly explained that the coming Resorts World Westside City is to moreover feature the 15-tower Bayshore Residential Resorts as well as the four-tower Gentry Manor and a luxury mall.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that Megaworld Corporation’s partner in building Resorts World Westside City, Manila-headquartered Travellers International Hotel Group Incorporated, earlier declared that it had earmarked $1.1 billion in order to complete its portion of the project.

“While a big portion of [Resorts World] Westside City will be handled by Travellers International [Hotel Group Incorporated], Megaworld [Corporation] is pouring in a huge amount of money to expand our residential and hotel offerings within the township,” reportedly read the statement from Canuto. “The demand is high and we want to tap every available opportunity in this booming side of the metro.”

Travellers International Hotel Group Incorporated is responsible for the nearby Resorts World Manila venue and had originally hoped to inaugurate its portion of Resorts World Westside City by 2020 complete with a casino managed by its Alliance Global Group Incorporated subsidiary.
