DraftKings announced this week the company is the new Official Sports Betting Partner of an upcoming boxing match involving Mike Tyson and Roy Jones Jr. The highly anticipated fight will take place on November 28 and with DraftKings as the new partner, will allow wagering on the event in certain states. There will also be a free-to-play pool taking place nationally for the fight.
Major Boxing Action
Fans of boxing cannot wait to see this event. Tyson is of course a well-known boxer and the former undisputed heavyweight world champion. For Jones Jr., he is the former four-division world champion. The fight is sure to be a must-watch and DraftKings makes it even more interesting to by offering sports betting coverage.
According to DraftKings chief business officer, Ezra Kucharz, the company plans to integrate branding and exclusive sportsbook data within a second screen experience. Kucharz pointed out that sports betting technology have evolved since the two fighters were champions and it will be interesting to see the two legends go head to head during this innovative era.
DraftKings will offer undercard sports betting in Indiana, New Hampshire, Colorado, Iowa, Illinois, Tennessee, and New Jersey. For fans located in New Hampshire, New Jersey, and Illinois, there will be main card betting.
With the sponsorship, the brand will create a unique series titled ‘DraftKings Tale of the Bet’ to capture betting trends surrounding the fight including the handle, market offers, and significant bet placements.
Details of the Fight
The Tyson and Jones Jr. match will be a four-hour live event taking place on November 28 at 8pm ET. Mario Lopez will host the fight. The three-hour main event card will start at 9pm ET on Pay-Per-View. The PPV will also stream on the TysononTriller site. Triller will provide musical guests on the night of the event including Wiz Khalifa, Lil Wayne, and many more.
Several undercard fights will take place on the same night. Jake Paul, a popular YouTube star, will fight Nate Robinson, a former NBA player. Rashad Coulter will take on Viddal Riley while Badou Jack will fight Blake McKernan.
Additional Partnership Deals
The announcement comes just a short time after DraftKings announced new partnership deals. Just after signing a deal with Turner Sports, an American based media company, the brand signed a deal with Peermont Hotels, Gaming and Resorts in South Africa.
This deal will see the creation of a mobile and online sportsbook in the county. DraftKings will power the PalaceBet sportsbook, the first online site for sports betting for Peermont.
