Known for daily fantasy sports offerings, DraftKings has now decided to launch new sports betting options via a recent partnership in the state of New York. The company has just announced a new partnership with the del Lago Resort & Casino, set to create a physical sportsbook within the gaming venue. Online and mobile wagering are expected along with the on-site options, as long as lawmakers regulate the two additional types of sports betting in the future.
DraftKings needs a physical location in the region if they are to continue to compete with their rival, FanDuel. Having partnered with Tioga Downs, FanDuel will be offering sports betting services in New York as well. According to the American Gaming Association, the state is the second-largest in the United States when it comes to a potential sports betting market, next to California, so both companies should do well in the region. There is great potential for earnings if legislation is passed into law to allow the online and mobile market to get started.
DraftKings is ahead of the curve, as they have been working on an online and mobile product that will allow the company to have a jump on the competition, if the Gaming Commission of the state establishes rules where such wagering will be allowed.
According to forbes.com, DraftKings has also partnered with Resorts Casino Hotel for sports betting services, a casino located in Atlantic City. The company should be ready to offer online and mobile sports betting in New Jersey by the upcoming NFL season.
