In the Netherlands and the Kansspelautoriteit (KSA) gambling regulator has announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding with its counterpart for Sweden that is to see the pair ‘enhance cooperation’ across a number of areas.
The KSA used an official Monday press release to declare that the new arrangement with its Spelinspektionen equivalent is to involve the two increasing ‘support for each other’ via the sharing of information and learned lessons and may also result in the duo teaming up ‘in enforcement actions against operators’ participating in the iGaming and land-based gaming sectors.
Firm foundation:
Rene Jansen, Chairman for the KSA, used the press release to proclaim that he is always eager to ‘formalize and capture’ alliances with fellow international regulators such as the Spelinspektionen because such pacts ‘provide a solid basis for cooperation’ while simultaneously sending a ‘clear signal’ to the land-based and online gambling industries.

“Both authorities share the same common objectives of preventing criminality, making sure gaming is fair and transparent and also protecting vulnerable persons against gambling addictions.”
Growing group:
For her part and Camilla Rosenberg, Director General for the Spelinspektionen, pronounced that the deal with the KSA represents the fourth such alliance her organization has inked with a European counterpart ‘since the new Swedish regulations came into force in 2019.’ The regulator stated that such unions are valuable due to the fact that they furthermore allow her service to ‘become stronger in its supervisory activities’ via the opening up of ‘the communication channels between authorities.’
