Helsinki-headquartered open iGaming platform provider, Finnplay, recently announced that it has secured a Class II Operating license for the Romanian regulated market.

The Class II license allows suppliers and distributors to provide operators with platform management, hosting facilities and gambling solutions in the regulated Romanian market.

The new license will reportedly enable the Finnish company to supply holders of Class 1 Operating licenses in Romania with its Billfold platform services. The license was awarded to the firm, which also has offices in Malta and Hong Kong, by the main body in charge of gambling activities in the southeastern European country, the National Gambling Office (ONJN).

Commenting on the accomplishment, founder and chief executive officer for The Finnplay Group, Martin Prantner, said, “We’re delighted to have passed the stringent criteria required to supply operators in the fast-growing regulated Romanian market and are looking forward to offering our handcrafted technology to existing Romanian operators or those brands looking to enter the iGaming market.

“This is a further stepping stone for our business strategy of continued regulatory technical compliance and growth opportunities in which we can offer our customers an all-inclusive, serviced gaming platform for regulated EU markets, including the United Kingdom, Malta, Denmark and now Romania, with a full array of licenced products across the entire iGaming spectrum,” explained Prantner.

Finnplay was founded in 2008 and is compliant in the regulated gaming jurisdictions of the United Kingdom, Malta, Denmark, Belgium Romania, Hungry, Bulgaria, Curacao and Mexico. In addition to start-ups and small medium enterprises (SME), the platform caters to larger companies that are established and looking to replace or improve existing legacy systems. It includes a significant range of casino games (4,000-plus) from leading gaming studios along with various localized and global 40-plus payment integrations for operators.

In April the company announced the completion of its integration of the slots portfolio of Valencia-based software development company Red Rake Gaming to its Billfold platform.
