Contract negotiations started July 8th at the Isle Casino in Pompano Beach, Florida after the workers secured affiliation with Unite Here on June 11th after an almost year long struggle to unionize. The negotiations mark the first time the company has been forced to bargain with workers. One of the biggest reasons for the over a thousand workers at the Isle casino to unionize was an equal right to quality health care. The casino is owned by Isle of Capri casinos, Inc which took in over one billion in revenue in the past year and the workers saw no reason they should not benefit from the wealth that was the fruits of their labor.
