European online gambling group Global Gaming 555 has named Nigel Balcarres as its new Head of Compliance for its growing Malta operations.

Prior to this, Balcarres, who has more than three decades of experience in the gaming and betting industry, held a position with the same title at NetEnt for three-plus years. There he reportedly played a key role in securing Global Gaming’s first UK license. He was also responsible within the jurisdiction, Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) and Curacao and its Asian operations, for managing compliance.

As Global Gaming’s new head of Compliance, Balcarres will be charged with overseeing licensing application of the Group, as well as readying the future expansion plans for Ninja Casino, its leading B2C brand and the company’s B2B operations, according to the press release.

Commenting on the appointment, Mark Wadsworth, Director of Global Gaming’s companies in Malta, said Balcarres brings to the company the experience it needs to obtain and have success in operating licenses in new markets, along with the key skills required for it to continue offering fully compliant innovative services. Wadsworth added, “His understanding of gaming and regulatory frameworks around the world is of significant advantage for us, and we look forward to his contribution to the business.”
