Harrah’s Atlantic City WSOP Circuit Main Event win goes to Soheb Porbandarwala

The World Series of Poker Circuit has been in Atlantic City over the past few days with Harrah’s Resort playing host to quality poker events. Event #10 of the schedule just finished up, perhaps the most anticipated tournament on the tour schedule. The $1,675 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event saw 306 players competing with a prize pool of $459,000 generated. In the end, it was Soheb Porbandarwala who earned the first-place finish after defeating Peter Vitantonio in heads-up play.

The 27-year-old poker player took part in Flight B of the event, moving to the next round with somewhat of a small chip stack. Thankfully, he was able to gain a nice chip stack and made it to the final three tables, securing a spot in the money. According to the WSOP, in a surprising turn of events, Porbandarwala would see himself going all-in against Joe Siracusa early on, without really meaning to.

Porbandarwala was going to say fold but he ended up going all-in and saw himself in a showdown with Siracusa. The poker player was playing in the online poker ring event of the WSOP at the same time and was going all-in there, accidentally saying all-in out loud and taking on Siracusa. Thankfully, he had better cards and was able to hang on, eliminating Siracusa in 10^th place.

This gave Porbandarwala the chip lead and would help him secure the win. In the end, it would be Porbandarwala and Peter Vitantonio in heads-up play, a three-time gold ring winner. The two would trade chip leads for some time before Porbandarwala would have the lead and the final hand would go down.

On the last hand of the event, Vitantonio would limp in on the button and Porbandarwala would check his option being the big blind. The flop showed J-9-3. Porbandarwala would check and Vitantonio would wager 80,000. Porbandarwala would then check-raise 250,000. This would push Vitantonio all-in and Porbandarwala would call.

The two flipped their cards, with Vitantonio showing Q-10 off-suit and Porbandarwala holding J-5. The turn was a 4 of hearts with the river showing a 7 of clubs, giving Porbandarwala the win with a pair of jacks.

The WSOPC at Harrah’s continues through the weekend with Event #11, the $356 No-Limit Hold’em tournament, as well as Event #12, an additional $365 No-Limit Hold’em tournament along with the $135 Ladies Event.
