According to the Ohio Casino Control Commission, in February, the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland brought in $18.3 million in revenue, a 9 percent decrease from February 2015.That includes the extra day in February this year. Ohio’s seven racinos and other three casinos all showed increases in revenue compared to February 2015.

Spokeswoman Shannon Mortland said that both the casino and guests who played table games did well during the month of February. The spokeswoman added, “Horseshoe Cleveland had the highest payout on table games of any casino in the state,” according to cleveland.com. The revenue for casinos statewide in February increased by approximately 7 percent to $72.1 million compared to the same time last year.

Rock Gaming announced its name change to JACK Entertainment last month. In its last months as Horseshoe Cleveland, the facility becomes JACK Cleveland Casino in May, per the company announcement. June will see JACK Cincinnati Casino renamed and at a later date Detroit Casino-Hotel Greektown will take on the JACK name as well.

Meanwhile, JACK Entertainment hopes ThistleDown Racino in North Randall can be rejuvenated. The facility is currently undergoing a $70 million expansion that is expected to be completed in April. While the racino’s February take of $8.9 million was slightly higher than the same time last year, overall revenue has been stagnant for months. February revenue of $17.4 million at Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park was 17.5 percent higher than February 2015.

Statewide in February, the seven racino’s total revenue was $72.2 million, a 15 percent increase over the same time period in 2015, according to a monthly report released by the Ohio Lottery Commission on Monday. Revenue is defined by the state commission and lottery as the money remaining after the gambling facilities deduct for promotions and pay winners. Officials from the gambling establishments have said these types of comparisons typically more accurately reflect the performance of casinos and racinos than comparing one month to the previous one.

The Hollywood casinos in Toledo and Columbus are owned by Penn National Gaming as well as the racinos near Youngstown and Dayton. Hard Rock Rocksino is a combined effort between Northfield Park and Hard Rock International.
