If the Melbourne Cup is ‘the race that stops a nation’, then ‘Le Tour’ is the race that showcases a nation, the stunning scenery, superb racing and, of course, the chance to win a quid, all adding up to plenty of bleary eyes at work as Aussie punters try to stay awake into the early hours.

With four stages left, and stars Alberto Contador and Chris Froome on the sidelines, Nibali may as well get that yellow jersey tattooed onto his back, because, barring injury or illness, he owns a whopping 5-minute, 26-second lead over Alejandro Valverde ($34).
