In South Korea, real estate firm Landing International Development Limited has reportedly announced that it is hoping to open the casino for its giant Jeju Shinhwa World project late next month.

According to a January 3 report from GGRAsia, the Chinese firm had originally intended to inaugurate the foreigner-only facility featuring 240 slots as well as 160 gaming tables from yesterday but had deferred this premiere to a ‘later date’ as it awaited government permission to bring in games from another venue it runs in the Asian country.

Courtesy of an ‘exclusive interview’ with Chris Block, Casino Executive Vice-President for the local Landing Entertainment Korea Company Limited subsidiary of Landing International Development Limited, yesterday saw GGRAsia report that the new casino inside the Jeju Shinhwa World Marriott Resort at Jeju Shinhwa World is now due to begin welcoming guests from February 28.

However, GGRAsia explained that Block referred to this deadline for the newest casino on Jeju Island as only a ‘working date’ that he hopes to follow on March 2 with a more ostentatious ‘gala grand opening’.

“This is tentative and it is anticipating the process goes as it should,” Block reportedly told GGRAsia. “The casino has been totally finished since December.”

Landing International Development Limited reportedly only wants to open the new gambling facility at Jeju Shinhwa World after being given authorization to relocate some 16 slots and 28 gaming tables it currently offers at a foreigner-only casino inside the nearby Hyatt Regency Jeju. But, this official consent can only be granted by the local legislature, which is not due to sit again until early-February.

Previously known as Myths and History Park and then Resorts World Jeju, Jeju Shinhwa World is a massive development that sits on approximately 617.7 acres of land and already offers visitors an amusement park with 20 rides spread across seven zones alongside a pair of luxury hotels and multi-purpose convention facilities. April additionally saw Landing International Development Limited open the venue’s 344-unit Somerset Jeju Shinhwa World condominium development with guests moreover able to enjoy a water park, a retail quarter and a spa alongside a selection of food and beverage outlets.
