Two of Macau’s most prominent junket firms have reportedly recently established VIP-facing operations inside a small casino situated within a new beachfront resort located in the southern Cambodian city of Sihanoukville.

High-roller inauguration:

According to a report, Asian junket giant, Suncity Group Holdings Limited, has just soft-launched a high-roller operation at the Xihu Resort Hotel about a month after rival firm, Guangdong Group, premiered a similar service at the same seaside venue.

Expanding influence:

Hong Kong-listed Suncity recently purchased a controlling stake in Russian casino operator, Summit Ascent Holdings Limited, and detailed that its latest Cambodian enterprise has been branded as the XiGang International Suncity VIP Club and features a trio of salons offering 20 Texas hold‘em poker and baccarat tables.

Growing portfolio:

Suncity is reportedly controlled by Macau-born businessman, Alvin Chau Cheok Wa, and had already operated some 13 VIP clubs outside of its home territory including within Phnom Penh’s giant NagaWorld casino resort. The firm  explained that it intends to hold an official grand opening ceremony for its latest Cambodian offering on June 29 and does not believe that the operation will bring it into conflict with the anti-money laundering laws of Hong Kong.

Cambodian campaign:

GGRAsia reported that October saw Suncity Group announce that it had signed a deal to provide management and consultancy services to an integrated casino resort being built in the same southern Cambodian city. This under-construction development from operator Golden Sun Sky Entertainment Company Limited is expected to open in the first quarter of 2020 and feature a 1.3 million sq ft gaming floor alongside a hotel, commercial units and restaurants.

Consumer choice:

Guangdong Group additionally runs a service inside the NagaWorld venue and proclaimed that its VIP club inside Sihanoukville‘s Xihu Resort Hotel opened early last month offering a complement of 16 gaming tables.
