Since April 2015, top online gaming software company Microgaming has been working on new office headquarters on the Isle of Man. According to a recent press release, the new HQ is now open for business, having officially opened its doors on July 31st. The new building is located next to the existing office space of the company and is titled Sixty Two.

The new headquarters is a five-story office building that is home to more than 100 employees of Microgaming. A sky bridge was constructed to join the existing building and new building together, creating a lovely campus perfect for the software company. Guests of the facility will feel right at home in the stunning reception area that was decorated in celebration of Microgaming products which includes a special wall that showcases the awards and games of the company. Employees, as well as Douglas, Isle of man, are also celebrated in the reception area.

The new office space was constructed with employees in mind, with the office space created to foster communication and collaboration among team members. The facility includes sixteen meeting spaces along with phone booths and hot desks. There are also break-out areas found on each floor. The fourth floor is considered the communal portion of the facility and features a coffee shop and canteen area. The coffee shop even includes a unique blend exclusively created for Microgaming!

Employees can take a break to refocus by enjoying a gaming area that consists of darts gaming, poker table, pool tables and table tennis. There is also a library located on the fourth floor for quiet break times. To encourage the well-being of the staff, several options have been provided including an in-hour gym, fitness classes on offer each week and treatment room.

Microgaming’s CFO John Coleman commented in the press release on the new facility by stating: “Following a number of years of hard work and commitment, it’s incredibly satisfying to see Sixty Two open. A lot of time was spent understanding the needs and wants of our employees so that a building could be designed specifically with them in mind. All involved, including staff and suppliers, should be incredibly proud of what they have achieved – I can’t thank them enough.”

Sixty Two was constructed to be as eco-friendly as possible. The company worked with BREEAM to ensure the property would be eco-conscious. BREEAM is considered the best environmental assessment method for buildings in the world and provides a rating system for eco-friendly aspects. The office building has 45,000 square feet and is one of the first to achieve a BREEAM rating on the Isle of Man.

Environmentally friendly features included in the construction for better energy efficiency and management of waste include smart lighting, the monitoring of temperature and air quality, plus recycling areas on every floor in a central location. At the on-site café, reusable cups are used for smoothies and coffees. Materials that were used during the construction phase had continual use as new furniture was made from remnants.

With the second office located now fully functioning, Microgaming and Derivco Isle of man can focus on their rapid expansion, with staff members totaling 231. Microgaming CEO Roger Raatgever pointed out in the press release on the opening that it is incredible to think about the fact that when Microgaming first opened, there were only six staff members, and that was just in 2001. Raatgever continued by stating that the new office space is an exciting new chapter for the company and he is immensely proud of what they have achieved in their home.

During the construction, Microgaming used Manx-based businesses whenever possible along with workforce members. Companies that they worked with on the project include March Consultants Limited, Auldyn Construction Limited, SMS (IOM) Ltd., Bell Burton Associates and more.
