American casino operator Monarch Casino and Resort Incorporated has reportedly expanded the hotel at its Monarch Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk property to conclude the Colorado venue’s long-running $400 million redevelopment.

According to a report from local television broadcaster KUSA-TV, the Reno-headquartered firm broke ground on the transformation of its Black Hawk facility in February of 2017 before completing the $295 million first-leg of this scheme some 45 months later. This initial stage purportedly saw the Monarch Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk debut a 23-story hotel tower complete with 250 rooms alongside a trio of new restaurants, a rooftop pool and a spa.

However, Monarch Casino and Resort Incorporated has reportedly now finished work on another new hotel for this tower featuring almost 100 VIP suites to take the total room complement for its sole Colorado venue up to 516. The company purportedly noted that this fresh offering moreover encompasses a 2,000 sq ft penthouse apartment incorporating a pool table, a fireplace and bedrooms with spa tubs.

Established in 1993, Monarch Casino and Resort Incorporated is also responsible for western Nevada’s Atlantis Casino Resort Spa Reno enterprise and reportedly explained that its Monarch Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk venue now additionally features an almost 60,000 sq ft gaming floor hosting a complement of around 1,250 slots and about 40 gaming tables. The company purportedly noted that all of this has been joined by bars, banqueting and meeting spaces and a nine-story parking garage capable of accommodating roughly 1,500 vehicles.

For his part and Stephen Cole serves as the City Manager for Black Hawk and he reportedly told KUSA-TV that his community’s tourism market has rapidly recovered from its coronavirus-induced downturn and is now posting numbers that are higher than their 2019 comparables. The official purportedly went on to highlight the economic benefits of the expanded Monarch Casino Resort Spa Black Hawk before asserting that the venue will be able to offer more employment opportunities and give locals a lot more to do over a longer period of time.
