Mount Airy Casino is moving ahead with their mini-casino plans after purchasing over 100 acres of land located in Big Beaver, Pennsylvania. The land is located near Interstate 376 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike, set to be home to a satellite casino and entertainment complex.

Getting Started:

The new mini-casino will be named the Mount Airy Pittsburgh Casino Resort and should open by late next year. The property will bring hundreds of employment positions to the region and possibly millions in new gambling tax revenues. Officials have set an expected date for breaking ground on the project by Q4 of 2018.

Beaver County Commissioner Chairman Daniel Camp commented: “It’s a game changer—it’s a game changer any time a new business comes into the Beaver County region, bringing new jobs into the country. Beaver County has been looking for this entertainment venue to come here and this is our big chance. We’re excited.”

Friedmutter Group Design:

The new gaming venue will be designed by the Friedmutter Group, a company that worked on the Las Vegas Cosmopolitan. During Phase One of the project, 750 slot games will be added along with 30 table games, a sports bar and buffet. During Phase Two, a full-service hotel will be added along with a convention center, swimming pool, restaurant, salon and spa.

As many as 700 jobs are expected to be created, with 400 of those being full time. Around 300 would be crated during the construction phases.

Back in February, Mount Airy submitted a bid to win a mini-casino license with $21.1 million. With their bid, the company had committed to bringing the venue to an area within a 15-mile radius of New Castle, with Beaver County being within this area of jurisdiction.
