The new land-based casino set to be created in Gary, Indiana is going to be patterned after the Hard Rock brand. Over the weekend, Spectacle Entertainment announced that an agreement had been signed with Hard Rock International to apply the brand to the property.

Gary Hard Rock:

With the new agreement, the Gary casino will be managed by Hard Rock on behalf of Spectacle Entertainment. The size of the casino project was originally estimated at a cost of $300 million. Now with the new branding, the project is estimated at $400 million. The property will be home to several bars and restaurants including a Hard Rock Café.

For live entertainment, the property will offer a Hard Rock Live concert venue. The Gary casino is going all-in with branding and theming, set to feature the brand’s name and likeness throughout.

CEO and chairman of Hard Rock International, Jim Allen, commented on the decision by stating: “Hard Rock is excited to partner with Spectacle Entertainment to create the first land-based gaming destination, bringing our world-class brand of entertainment to Northwest Indiana and the greater Chicago area.”

New Jobs:

CEO and Chairman of Spectacle, Rod Ratcliff, has commented that the $400 million investment will be a ‘significant catalyst’ for the continued revitalization of the economy in the northwest portion of Indiana as well as the city of Gary.

It has been projected that 1,000 temporary employment positions will be create with the construction phase of the project. Once complete, the property should employ around 2,000 individuals with permanent positions.

This over double the number of current employees, which sits at 800 individuals. Employees are spread throughout two Majestic Star casino riverboats. These venues were acquired by Spectacle back in March. Back in April, lawmakers in the state approved the relocation of the Majestic Star when approving a package involving tax and regulatory changes.

The move will be a big one for the casino and it will be even more anticipated by players now that the Hard Rock brand is associated with the project.
