In Rhode Island, the plan from casino operator Twin River Management Group Incorporated to build a new full-scale facility in the town of Tiverton using the transferred license for its Newport Grand Casino slots-only property has reportedly taken another step forward.

According to a report from the local The Herald News newspaper, last week saw the Tiverton Town Council unanimously approve new zoning regulations that will allow Twin River Management Group Incorporated to construct its planned Twin River Tiverton Casino Hotel on a 45-acre site only a few hundred feet from the Rhode Island border with Massachusetts.

Twin River Management Group Incorporated, which also operates the nearby Twin River Casino along with the Hard Rock Hotel And Casino in Biloxi, Mississippi, had its plan for the new Twin River Tiverton Casino Hotel approved via a statewide referendum in November and reportedly hopes to begin construction of the facility featuring a 80,000 sq ft casino offering some 1,000 slots alongside 30 gaming tables in the summer.

The Herald News reported that the plan for the Twin River Tiverton Casino Hotel moreover calls for the construction of an 84-room hotel along with a two-level parking garage capable of holding up to 1,800 cars with the finished enterprise expected to employ up to 600 people.

The newspaper additionally reported that the Tiverton Town Council’s planning board is expected to start deliberations on final approvals for the Twin River Tiverton Casino Hotel next month while Twin River Management Group Incorporated explained that the entire project could open as early as July of 2018.
