Muscogee Creek Nation has the ambitious plans for its next casino! On Friday, July 14, the Wagoner County officials informed the public that the tribe’s plans for Travel Plaza with the small casino are approved.

The plans for the construction:

The tribe has huge plans for 35 acres of land located in Coweta, Oklahoma near 131st Street and Highway 51. The southeast corner of the land is located north of Senior Salsa, a popular Mexican restaurant.

After Muscogee Creek Nation had a teleconference Emergency Session on June 1, the tribe approved the decision about the new property.

In that meeting, the details of the purchase and sale agreement were decided upon, and after that, the second step was related to the execution of the project. The Muscogee Nation Gaming Enterprises, LLC will be in charge of the partnership, which will be signed between River Spirit Casino Resort and I-5 Design-Build, Inc. Both companies, the casino and the design-build company, were approved with a 14-0 ratio of votes.

The casino won’t be a giant one like another River Spirit Casino in Tulsa, but that was expected since the smaller casinos became a normality in the industry, especially when it comes to the tribal casinos. The Muscogee tribe already owns the one in Okmulgee, and there’s another one, in possession of the different tribe, near Glencoe, just off Highway 412.

Roger Kolman, the City Manager in Coweta, said: “The City of Coweta is aware the Muscogee (Creek) Nation has purchased land located at 131st and Highway 51 in Coweta, land that has been vacant for a long time. We welcome new economic development within Coweta that complies with all applicable land use regulations and requirements. The Muscogee (Creek) Nation has been a valued community partner, and we anticipate that the Nation will continue to invest in Coweta and in Coweta’s future.”

A great addition to the tribal casino industry:

The officials confirmed that the land was bought and added that one part of the area near the river is placed on the floodplain

We still don’t have any additional information about the property, so the details, like when the works on the construction will begin or when they will be completed, are unknown.

The tribe already owns several casinos: Creek Nation Casino Bristow, Creek Nation Casino Duck Creek, Creek Nation Casino Checotah, Creek Nation Casino Holdenville, Creek Nation Casino Eufaula, Creek Nation Casino Muscogee, Creek Nation Casino Okemah, One Fire Casino, and popular River Spirit Casino Resort in Tulsa. The newest addition to them will be the upcoming Travel Plaza Casino.
