SRIJ, the gambling regulator of Portugal, has given the 888 brand the go-ahead to begin sharing poker liquidity with Spain. The approval comes around five months after the poker company was given a license for operations in Portugal. Back in early 2018, the shared liquidity project was launched, with regulators from Portugal, Spain, France and Italy negotiating how online poker could be improved in the regions.

Revitalized iPoker Market for Europe:

The goal of the shared liquidity plan was to revitalize the online poker market of Europe. After the four countries began discussing the option, Italy would drop out. However, Portugal, France and Spain would remain to get the project rolling. The first to join was PokerStars, with the company launching in Spain and France in January of last year. Not long after, the company was allowed to launch in Portugal, with poker liquidity sharing with Spanish and French sites.

It took some time for 888 to earn their approval, but they now join PokerStars in offering online poker gaming in Portugal and sharing player pools in the two other regions. SRIJ announced 888’s approval in late June, with the brand able to share liquidity via Omaha and Texas Hold’em games. Both tournaments and cash are included in the approval. 888 has yet to launch an online poker room in Portugal, but they are expected to go live soon.

According to CasinoNewsDaily…

The launch of online poker in Portugal via 888 will coincide with the launch of Poker8, new poker software created by 888. The new poker software of 888 went live earlier in the year via the .com site. New features were added to give players a more enhanced online poker gaming experience. Settings of the software allow players to choose their background when playing, have a customized profile and choose card decks among many other options.

Live Poker:

The announcement of the shared poker liquidity is just one way that 888 will be offering services in Portugal. 888poker will be working with the World Poker Tour this August to September to feature a WPTDeekStack in the country at Casino Vilamoura.

The series will include several poker tournaments including the Main Event which begins on September 5th. Along with the Main Event, the series will include a survivor tournament, Crazy 888 event and more.
