A new casino will eventually come to Terre Haute, Indiana, with the state’s Gaming Commission choosing the operator sometime in the near future. Proposals are already coming in and the decision should be made soon so that the facility can open by the end of next year.
So far, HR Terre Haute, LLC (Hard Rock), Terre Haute Entertainment, LLC, Churchill Downs, and Full House Resorts, Inc. have sent in applications for the casino license. Churchill Downs revealed its plans earlier in the week via a press release, providing details on its proposed Queen of Terre Haute Resort. Details of this venue and the Full House Resorts plans can be seen below.
Two Operators Vision for the Casino
Churchill Downs wants to create a casino with 1,000 slots and 50 table games, while a connected hotel will house 125 guest rooms. The property would also include a sportsbook with the operator’s TwinSpires brand, plus food and dining options.
The company calls the new casino a destination gaming facility and it has been estimated that as many as 500 full-time jobs will come with the property. The region should also be able to receive around $190 million yearly from revenues.
Full House Resorts has also submitted a proposal for a new casino, calling it American Place. The new property would consist of a new hotel and casino, with $250 million spent on the project. The casino will be created on 32 acres of land located near Interstate 70.
Full House Property Details
The property design has several elements, including guest rooms on upper levels so guests can enjoy extended views of the property. On top of the hotel will sit a restaurant and pool deck with views of the Wabash Valley.
Full House Resorts would offer 50 table games and 1,000 slot machines, along with a sportsbook on its property. Like the Churchill Downs plan, this casino and hotel would also bring about new jobs to the region.
In a press release, Full House Resorts President and Chief Executive Officer Daniel R. Lee, commented that the company has been licensed in good standing in the state of Indiana for many years via the Rising Star Casino Resort and Golf Course. This new project will allow the company to use its experience and database in the state to cross-market opportunities between both casinos.
Regulators will now review the plans submitted. It will be interesting to see if they narrow down the options and ask for more information or if a plan will be approved much faster than expected.
