The Malaysian based Genting Group is famous for its Resorts World casino brand which has been established in Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. Genting has already entered the U.S. market with a Resorts World New York City and two more planned for Massachusetts and Nevada.
Resorts World Las Vegas recently announced that it had secured critical regulatory approvals from gaming officials in Nevada for its $4 billion mega casino project which is being developed on the north side of the Las Vegas strip. The Nevada Gaming Commission had signed off unanimously and approved a number of key applications filed by the Genting Group.
The Resorts World Las Vegas broke ground back in 2015 and the casino was expected to be completed in 2018. However there were a number of delays brought on due to the fluctuations of the Malaysian ringgit and the Chinese economy. The Gaming Commission has issued critical approvals that will allow Resorts World Las Vegas to search and select corporations and key executives who will be involved with the development of the project.
The Las Vegas casino will be completed during the fourth quarter of 2019 and is expected to provide around 5,000 part time construction jobs and 3,000 full time jobs when it goes live. Construction work on the project is expected to commence during the fourth quarter of 2016.
The project’s general counsel, Gerald Gardner who was a former chief of staff to Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval, stated that the delay to the project has not deterred the Genting Group as they have focused on improvising and making their plans better.
In a statement, speaking about the Genting Group, Gardner said “This is an extremely deliberative and thorough company when it comes to evaluating markets, when it comes to getting it right in terms of design and construction.”
Resorts World Las Vegas will have a Chinese theme to it and focus on attracting Asian gamblers, especially VIP gamblers from Mainland China. The Resorts World project will have a 150,000 sq foot casino, a hotel with over 3,000 rooms, a nightclub, high-end restaurants and a number of retail outlets. The site for Resorts World Las Vegas is the same site at which the Boyd Gaming Corp was building their Echelon resort. The project was dropped during the recession and Genting will make use of Echelon’s partially built structures to build Resorts World.
Gardner also confirmed that the Las Vegas casino will have a special “celestial sphere” situated in the atrium at the front entrance that will display selfies of guests who visit the property. There will also be a Chinese garden located at the front entrance. While there will be a push to attract Asian gamblers, Gardner confirmed that Resorts World will also make sure its domestic visitors are also well taken care off.
