A new Marriott hotel will be joining the Rivers Casino and Resort at Mohawk Harbor in Schenectady, New York after the Planning Commission voted unanimously for the project. Visitors to the casino and resort property will now be able to take advantage of accommodation options provided by the Courtyard Marriott hotel.
The approval was given for a plan which will include a four story property, featuring 124 upscale guest accommodations. The hotel project is part of a larger, $450 million endeavor at the former Alco property located on Erie Boulevard.
The hotel will feature many amenities as a Courtyard prototype including a sitting area outdoors with firepit, and access to the harbor. Landscaping details and lighting are still being discussed and must be approved before moving forward.
Experts will be back next month presenting specifics to the commission in regards to the casino project, which will consist of 151,000 feet of gaming space. The gambling facility is expected to have 66 table games and 1,150 slot machines.
