Visitors to Rivers Casino & Resort Schenectady will now be able to partake in live-on-site horse betting as the Rush Street Gaming-owned and operated facility recently announced that its newly-agreed partnership with Capital Off-Track Betting will see it become the state of New York’s first and only casino to do so.

The partnership is expected to attract new guests to the Schenectady casino and resort and also bring in added tax revenue to the city’s coffers and the surrounding area.

Vice President and Assistant General Manager for Rivers Casino & Resort, Justin Moore, said that they were “proud to be the first casino in the state to offer OTB services,” and thanked the New York State Gaming Commission and Capital OTB for helping to make it a reality.

Moore added, “We are always looking for new ways to bring excitement to our guests, and the addition of OTB is a win-win for both parties. The Capital Region has a tradition of playing the ponies locally and across the country, so we couldn’t be happier to bring the thrill of off-track betting to our guests,” according to the press release.

Conveniently placed, three Capital OTB betting terminals will be situated at Van Slyck’s located adjacent to the casino floor, with two terminals at the bar and a kiosk window complete with a live teller who will provide customer service and take bets. Specifically designated TVs located in the bar will air four tracks of horse racing at a time.

Capital OTB President and CEO John Signor said that they are “thrilled” to have joined forces with the team at Rivers Casino to offer live on-site horse betting inside “the magnificent Rivers facility,” according to the news release.

Signor went on to thank Rivers Casino GM Rob Long, Assistant GM Justin Moore, General Counsel Stacey Rowland and the entire team at Rivers “for their support in this significant partnership.”

Lastly, the CEO thanked the Gaming Commission “for their attention to this issue and timely approval.  It will be an exciting Kentucky Derby this weekend and we are happy to be spending it with the patrons at Rivers Casino.”

A public benefit corporation representing the City of Schenectady and 16 upstate counties, Capital District Regional Off-Track Betting Corporation has upwards of 60 locations throughout its region.

Visitors to the casino can find Van Slyck’s just off the casino floor and steps from The Landing Hotel.
