After quitting the position of chairman for Crown Resorts in 2015, James Packer returns to his previous leadership role within the company. An announcement was made that Robert Rankin has stepped down as part of a senior leadership reshuffle within the company. Rankin will be replaced by John Alexander, the current deputy chairman, on February 1.

Rankin will remain in a director position and commented on his position that he had relished the opportunity to guide the company during a rapidly changing period. Rankin further stated that the next stage of development for Crown Resorts will be more focused on the outstanding Australian assets and will be led by Alexander, with a very strong team in place.

Alexander will continue to focus on the company’s online gambling business, VIP operations, and the upcoming six star Barangaroo hotel property. According to Alexander, Crown Resorts is the leading entertainment company of Australia and they will continue to work hard to ensure the company is able to deliver world-class facilities and services to customers and guests.

In 2015 Crown acquired a 60% interest in online social gaming operator DGN Games LLC (DGN) of Austin, Texas for US$27.5 million and has invested another $5m in the company’s growth since then.

Alexander thanked the board of the Crown Resorts for their support and stated he looks forward to representing all shareholders to ensure the business continues to grow and create value.
