A construction company based out of Gulfport, Mississippi by the name of Roy Anderson Corp., has been awarded the contract to build a 1,000-plus space parking garage for the Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort.
On Friday, the casino resort announced its decision to award the firm the contract for the parking garage designed by SOSH Architects, which has offices in Atlantic City and New York and is the same firm that designed the Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort building.
The construction company is expected to break ground on phase two of the project, which will add a seven-floor parking garage with approximately 1,023 spaces, as early as Monday. The newest addition to the D’Iberville, Mississippi casino, which opened in December last year, is expected to be completed next year towards the end of February, according to the president and CEO of the construction company, Roy Anderson, III.
Nory Hazaveh, one of the firm’s founding principals and lead designers said, “For this project to be successful two components were essential to the design process; encompassing a parking garage that promoted easy access, level surface parking, was well- lit as well as being consistent with the Scarlet Pearl experience and modern in approach,” according to the news report.
E.J. Clinton, Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort’s Director of Facilities, said that the construction of phase two is only the beginning and that phase three and phase four could come in the next three to five years. The casino resort’s CEO, LuAnn Pappas, said “We are fortunate to be able to move on this initiative much sooner than we expected, this puts us in a privileged position to look at future growth opportunities also, sooner than we expected,” according to the report.
Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort is a privately held company and is located at 9422 Central Avenue off I-110 North, just across the Back Biloxi Bay from Biloxi. The casino features a 60,445 square foot gambling floor with 1,350 slots and video poker machines, 45 table games, and a 10 table Poker Room. The facility also includes a 234-room, 14-floor luxury hotel that includes 56 luxury suites and 10 penthouse suites, as well as an event center, two 18-hole miniature golf course, multiple restaurants, pool, retail and gift shop, and a fitness center.
