The $290 million Scarlet Pearl Casino Resort in D’Iberville, Mississippi is scheduled to open this Wednesday, December 9. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for 11 a.m. to follow with a 6 p.m. fireworks show.

Last month, the Scarlet Pearl passed inspection and was granted a certificate of occupancy. The keys to the property were transferred from the Project Executive for contracting company, Roy Anderson Corp. to casino management. Construction at the eighth Biloxi area casino progressed ahead of schedule moving from a December 15 opening to that of December 9.

Amenities of the Scarlet Pearl include:

  • 60,445 square feet of gaming
  • 1,350 slot machines, 45 table games and 10 live poker tables
  • Luxury 15-floor, 300-room hotel, including 234 deluxe rooms, 56 suites, and 10 penthouse suites
  • 250-seat buffet as well as three signature restaurants
  • 175-seat gourmet restaurant
  • Garden Oasis pool and fitness center
  • 10,000 square foot convention center
  • 24 hour café/coffee shop
  • Lava Links 36-hole professional mini golf course complete with erupting volcano

While the state’s gaming revenues are down, performances from coastal casinos have increased the overall numbers by approximately 1%. So far this year, gaming on the coast is up $50 million and the Scarlet Pearl should provide another boost for the region’s economy. Investments in beautifying the Bay area are also being made by other casinos in the immediate area. A casino across the Back Bay has been a long-standing desire and the Scarlet Pearl’s opening on Wednesday will be the culmination of that.

The casino announced on its Facebook page that it would be having some special opening day/new member promotions including a Pearl Rewards promotion. If you lose up to $500 on your first day, new members will be mailed “two free slot play offers each valid for half the amount of your losses, each good for two weeks.” In addition, from December 9 through December 30 the Scarlet Pearl will match all competitor free slot play and table game offers.
