Last month, it was announced that the state of Delaware would be ready to launch full-scale sports betting by June, following the United States Supreme Court’s overturning of the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act. The Delaware Lottery would be in charge of the offering, with Scientific Games Corporation (NASDAQ:SGMS) set to implement the expansion.

Yesterday, the first sports bet was placed as Delaware launched their full-scale operations. In the past, the state offered legal  betting of this kind for professional football, and after the SCOTUS ruling, has been able to expand to other types of sports. As the sports betting provider for the state, Scientific Games is using their integrated sports wagering technology along with their content and managing services.

Delaware has worked with software brand since 2009, as it has powered the state Lottery to help the state earn over $46 million across their land-based casinos and lottery retailers. Along with helping the sports betting industry of Delaware move to full-scale operations, the supplier will continue to provide instant lottery games, draw-based and video lottery games.

Senior Vice President of Global Lottery Systems, Pat McHugh, commented in a press release: “Since Delaware is known as ‘The First State’, it’s appropriate they were first in the nation to expand regulated sports betting after the PASPA ruling. We are proud to support the Delaware Lottery’s long history of industry firsts and thrilled to be their trusted provider of an integrated sports betting program serving both casinos and lottery retailers across the state.”
