Wynn Las Vegas is planning on launching a new application in February to offer sports betting for gamers in the area. The sports betting application will be focused on betters in the state of Nevada, with residents and any visitors inside the state’s borders having the option to take part.
John Avello, the head of the sportsbook at Wynn, spoke with Legal Sports Report, stating that the company sees the application as a vehicle for people who live in the state as well as house guests who want to be able to place wagers whether they are enjoying the pool or the club.
The application has taken two years to create and will unfortunately not be ready in time for the 2016 Super Bowl. However, the application will be ready in time for March Madness, the popular NCAA basketball tournament. The application will be adding the option to wager on horses in a six month time frame with Miomni Gaming offering the software for the betting application. The software company is responsible for applications for such brands Paddy Power and Boyd Gaming.
The sportsbetting application will offer the same wagering options as the standard sportsbook, which will include horse-racing futures. Basically, players can enjoy the same features via mobile as they can when visiting the sportsbook.
The application is also part of the Encore Players Club, a new option created by Wynn back in December of 2015. The club is a sports lounge that offers several gaming options including slots, blackjack, craps and roulette. The Encore Players Club also includes social and interactive free-play games.
In a press release, the company stated that the Wynn Las Vegas will be the very first venue to offer a new gaming and entertainment experience on the casino floor by creating a distinctive social space where visitors can gamble with friends, watch the game or hang out before going to the club. The company feels that the new offering will appeal to millennials, especially with the option to wager from Encore via the mobile application.
