As part of an effort to promote a healthier understanding of problem gambling, the 32Red iGaming brand of Maltese online casino and sportsbook operator Kindred Group has reportedly announced the premiere of its new Stay in Control campaign.
According to a Thursday report from Gambling Insider, the unique initiative from the Valletta-headquartered firm has also been designed to spread awareness about the services offered by the GambleAware charity and is to consist of a series of YouTube videos featuring prominent sporting stars discussing the issue of problem gambling.
Licensed by regulators in Gibraltar and the United Kingdom, 32Red sponsors five professional British football clubs in Preston North End, Middlesbrough, Rangers, Leeds United and Derby County and it reportedly revealed that the inaugural Stay in Control offering features former England international soccer star Wayne Rooney and past Reading and Crawley Town goalkeeper Scott Davies discussing their own difficulties with gambling.
Gambling Insider reported that 34-year-old Rooney was recently appointed as player/coach for English Championship football side Derby County and he moreover uses the Stay in Control video to talk about the highs and lows of being one of the world’s most talented footballers.
Neil Banbury, United Kingdom General Manager for Kindred Group, used an official Wednesday press release to declare that the Stay in Control campaign forms part of his firm’s ‘new model of sponsorship’ in which responsible gambling practices and messages feature prominently.

“Football and its stars like Wayne Rooney have a unique reach and cut through with adult audiences and as such are a great avenue for promoting healthier gambling behavior and advocating for control. The power of football to reach across communities and audiences is like no other and sport is a fantastic avenue for messaging to be communicated.”
