Today is a big day for Macau’s gamblers and gamers!

The construction of Melco Resorts & Entertainment’s Studio City Phase 2, US$1.3 billion worth, comes to an end. The first facilities at the property are opening in Macau!

Among the first ones to be opened are the Studio City Indoor Water Park, as well as the Epic Tower, the new hotel tower on the property.

This is the first expansion of Studio City that took so much effort and money since its official opening in 2015. The Grand Opening ceremony was held on Thursday, April 6th, and everyone has their own reasons to celebrate this expansion.

Water park – fun for everyone:

The long-expected Studio City Indoor Water Park is available to guests despite the weather and season. This water park possesses 16 attractions and seven funtastic water slides that guarantee excellent adventures. There is also an indoor-outdoor surfing simulator, as well as two wave pools for the ones who want to experience the ocean-like adventure. However, for the guests who enjoy hanging out by the river, there is Starlight Rapids, a 250-meter action river, so everyone will find a piece of fun for themselves.

Outdoor Water Park, which is connected to the indoor one, will be opened on April 28th, and it seems the guests can’t wait to try these amazing pools. Combined, both water parks will cover about 26.000 square meters of the area.

David Sisk, Melco’s Chief Operating Officer at Macau Resorts, said: “The grand opening of the Studio City Indoor Water Park offers an all-new, all-weather, and all-year-round one of its kind unique and exciting water-fun experience for guests of all ages, further strengthening the leisure entertainment components of Studio City making it an unforgettable top-notch entertainment destination. Melco is dedicated to supporting the Macao SAR Government’s initiative on promoting Macau as the World Center of Tourism and Leisure.”

Luxury hotel:

Thursday is the opening day of one more building at the property: the first hotel tower at Studio City. Another tower is expected to be built in the next period.

In Epic Tower, the first of the two planned 338 suites will be available to the hotel guests. Each one of them will possess the MelSuite system, which the guests would access via the customized digital tablet, as the company revealed.

The hotel will feature a pool and fitness center, as well as an infrared room. There will also be a luxury Himalayan salt sauna and spa to ease the tensions and leave the hotel completely relaxed.

The opening day is long expected and delayed a few times because of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, at the end of 2022, the opening is scheduled for 2Q23 – and new buildings are finally here!
