After much anticipation, the Sun International Time Square Casino Menyln Maine is open for business. On Saturday, the grand opening was marked by a pyrotechnics and light display that wowed the crowd in attendance. On April 1st, visitors would be able to enter the casino for the very first time, after enjoying the beautiful light display followed by dramatic yet quiet fireworks, so Sun International could stay in line with their commitment to the community.
The official ribbon cutting took place mid-day on Saturday and a festival was scheduled between Time Square and Central Square where many bands played their top hits. Visitors to the area could enjoy the music festival featuring such acts as Tutus, Desmond, Sutherland and more, as well as the lighting display, all for free.
As the casino is now open, visitors will have access to quality gaming alongside 18 new restaurants and bars. Each new bar and restaurant has a unique concept all its own to help create a distinctive experience. On the upper level, visitors will find the Forti Grill & Bar created by Fortunato Mazzone, a famous chef from South Africa. Also in the mix is a restaurant by Guy Fieri, the Guy Fieri’s Kitchen and Bar. Fieri is the famous host of Food Networks Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives along with other popular cooking shows.
The next phase of the project will include a state of the art Arena which will feature 8,500 seats. This venue should be completed in November and will be followed by phase three, next year with the Maslow Time Square hotel.
As far as gaming is concerned, Time Square is the second largest casino located in South Africa. The venue is home to 2,000 slot machines and 60 game tables. This is the largest investment in a casino development in some time for Sun International and creates a portion of the green Menlyn Maine precinct.
