The UK Gambling Commission has chosen Susan Harrison to replace Jenny Williams as CEO. Williams will step down from her role in September. According to news sources, the search for a new CEO took longer than expected. Harrison serves as a senior partner with Ofgem, the electricity and gas regulatory body. She will start work as at the UK Gambling Commission as a commissioner on September 7, 2015 before assuming the full role of CEO on October 1, 2015.
Chairman Philip Graf stated “Harrison has a wealth of experience in regulation along with social and consumer policy and communications. She is well placed to lead the Commission into its second decade as the regulator of commercial gambling in Great Britain.”
Harrison told media she is pleased with the new role and looks forward to the challenges she will face with maintaining gambling fairness, safety, and regulation.
Along with this news the UK Gambling Commission awarded two software and online gaming licenses to Nektan, a Gibraltar based mobile gaming specialist. The firm has created a niche for providing online casino platforms to media outlets like City AM, The Sun, and Ireland’s TV3. Nektan CEO, David Gosen, celebrated the licenses referencing the UK market as their key area of focus for continued growth.
The UK Gambling Commission also signed a cooperation agreement with Denmark’s Spillemyndigheden Danish Gambling Authority to help promote cross-border cooperation, as well as, collaboration between management.
