The full-fledged casino of Tioga Downs in New York needs staff, so the venue has begun the hiring process. On Monday the gaming facility began to collect applications via a career summit, to fill the 445 positions that will start once the casino opens on the 1st of July, pending regulatory approval.

The majority of the positions available are for table game dealers. The venue will be adding such games as blackjack and poker, with dealers needed for all shifts. The casino does not require past experience for potential employees as those hired will be sent to a four or eight week school to learn the art of dealing. The school will be hosted by the former Nichols Elementary.

Karen Shelp is the Human Resources Director for the venue who stated that the dealer positions are the most coveted as they make the most money. Dealers make tips and have a fun time watching the action up close.

Other positions available at the venue include surveillance, guest services, operations and security. Food and beverage positions are also available for the casino will now have two new eateries on site. This includes PJ Clarke’s and Virgil’s Real Barbecue.
