According to a recent report by Vietnam News, the area’s Prime Minister has approved a plan to construct a new complex along Vu Yen Island which will have a cost of $1 billion. The complex would be located in Hai Phong and was agreed to by Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, with officials hoping to see a casino eventually added to the complex plans.

The development will be considered an ecological zone with villas as well as amusement parks and a 36 hole golf course. The complex will be created on 872 hectares of land in Thuy Nguyen and Hai An districts.

Prime Minister Dung wants to be sure that all regulations are followed during the process of choosing a project investor. He has instructed the People’s Committee of Hai Phong City to work with the Ministry of Construction as well as additional agencies to ensure regulations are adhered to.

Le Van Thanh, the Chairman of Hai Phong, stated that the development should attract more tourism to the city. However, to be successful, the Chairman believes the project plan should include a casino, five star hotel, luxury marina, dock and cable car system.
