Online casino games innovator NetEnt AB has announced the signing of an agreement with A+E Networks that will see it develop an online video slot branded around the American television drama series, Vikings.

Currently in its fifth season with a sixth on the way and loosely based on the sagas of Danish ruler Ragnar Lothbrok, Vikings premiered in early-2013 and follows the fictitious adventures of a group of Scandinavian seafarers as they raid across France and England. The series airs on the History Channel in the United States with Stockholm-listed NetEnt AB declaring that it now hopes to premiere the online video slot branded on the series ‘towards the end of 2018’.

NetEnt AB has offices across Sweden as well as in the United States, Malta, Gibraltar and Poland while its Chief Product Officer, Henrik Fagerlund, stated that the Vikings television series ‘appeals to a vast audience worldwide’ thanks to its ‘classic and historical theme packed with action’.

“To be able to provide our players with a different genre of branded game showcases the hard work we’re putting in behind the scenes to create such high-quality content and further expand our portfolio,” read a statement from Fagerlund.
