Wind Creek Chicago Southland Casino & Resort is set to debut the final piece of its full-service resort vision this Friday, April 11, 2025, when it opens the doors to its brand-new luxury hotel and spa. The much-anticipated expansion marks a significant milestone for the entertainment venue, which has swiftly emerged as one of Illinois’ top-performing casinos since launching its gaming operations in November 2024.
Reservations for the resort’s upscale 255-room hotel, including 43 high-end suites, are now available via the official Wind Creek website. Rooms start at $389 per night, with the most opulent option—the Ultra Suite—exceeding $1,500 for a single night, according to Chicago Tribune. The hotel features accommodations ranging from 350-square-foot rooms to expansive luxury suites overlooking the bustling Tri-State Tollway in East Hazel Crest.
Spa, Amenities, and Elevated Guest Experience
Occupying the 16th floor of the newly completed hotel, the Spa at Wind Creek offers panoramic views of the Chicago skyline and a wide range of premium wellness services. From massages and body wraps to facials, manicures, and pedicures, the spa provides guests with a tranquil escape. The facility also includes eight treatment rooms, a mud room, a whirlpool tub, sauna, experiential showers, and even swinging chairs in a dedicated thermal suite.
Additional amenities available to guests include a modern fitness center, an indoor pool, and a 12,000-square-foot meeting and event space. Visitors can also enjoy the resort’s Center Bar and multiple dining establishments, which are part of a culinary collaboration with celebrity chef Fabio Viviani’s hospitality group. For those driving in, the property features ample parking, complete with electric vehicle charging stations.
One particularly unique offering is “Hidden Gems,” a customizable set of private gaming and event environments that allow for tailored experiences—adding a personalized touch to the entertainment and hospitality mix.
A Rapid Ascent in the Illinois Casino Market
Even before this new hotel and spa wing opened, Wind Creek Chicago Southland had already carved out a commanding presence in Illinois’ casino landscape. The resort, owned and operated by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, saw impressive numbers in March 2025—generating nearly $16.9 million in adjusted gross receipts, a 25% increase from the previous month. The Illinois Gaming Board also reported that more than 219,000 visitors passed through the property during that same period.
The strong performance helped push Illinois’ total adjusted gross receipts from all 16 casinos to $170.9 million in March, with a collective 1.39 million guests—both figures representing a more than 21% increase over February.
Wind Creek contributed $43.6 million in revenue during the first quarter of 2025, according to the Illinois Gaming Board, making it one of the primary drivers of growth in the state’s gambling sector. This surge in revenue has been particularly noteworthy as other regional casinos, such as Rivers Casino and Bally’s Chicago, experienced year-over-year declines in revenue amid growing competition.
Economic and Community Impact
In addition to attracting a steady stream of visitors, Wind Creek Chicago Southland has already had a substantial impact on the local economy. The property has created over 1,100 jobs and continues to support the area’s growth through both employment and tourism-related activity.
“With the opening of our hotel and spa, Wind Creek Chicago Southland is bringing a truly all-encompassing resort experience to the Southland region—one that blends luxury with accessibility,” said Roger Kuehn, Executive Vice President and General Manager of Wind Creek Chicago Southland in a company press release. “We’re proud to see this project come to life and to continue contributing to the vibrancy and economic growth of the surrounding community.”
Jay Dorris, President and CEO of Wind Creek Hospitality, added, “With every new opening, our goal is to raise the bar in hospitality and Guest experiences. Wind Creek Chicago Southland has already proven to be a powerhouse addition to our portfolio, and this next phase reinforces our commitment to providing premium destinations for our Guests and our communities.”
A Competitive Edge Amidst Regional Developments
Although the Wind Creek development may not match the scale of Bally’s planned $1.7 billion casino in downtown Chicago—set to open in 2026 with 4,000 gaming positions, a 500-room hotel, and a 3,000-seat theater—it has a significant head start. Bally’s, currently operating out of the Medinah Temple as a temporary venue, is targeting completion of its permanent River West complex by September 2026.
Until then, Wind Creek’s fully realized resort in the south suburbs is poised to continue drawing large crowds with its robust mix of entertainment, gaming, and luxury lodging.
