Last year, new regulations for online gambling were introduced in Colombia. Coljuegos, the country’s regulatory body, is tasked with providing licensing to operators there. The first license for online gaming was awarded by Coljuegos to the Aquila Global Group earlier this year. The company, based in Medellin, will be operating in Colombia via the Wplay.co brand.

The ambition of the Aquila Global Group is to see one million customers sign up at the Wplay.co site within a three-year time frame. The provider would like to offer their players in Colombia only the best content, so an agreement was recently signed with Microgaming to see their Quickfire platform offered via Wplay. Microgaming is known as the best software provider in the industry, so it is no surprise that Aquila Global would want to work with them.

Wplay.co is set to feature a range of Microgaming’s top games via the Quickfire platform. Such games as slots and roulette will be included. According to a press release, Wplay.co believes that Microgaming creates entertaining and popular titles, with content loading times that are impressive.

While Wplay.co was created to operate in Colombia, the brand has goals to expand into a variety of countries in the future. Wplay.co General Manager, Julio Cesar Tamayo, stated that the motto of the site is: “simplicity, speed and permanent innovation”. This motto can be linked to the work that Microgaming has been doing for more than 24 years, according to Tamayo. It appears the collaboration will be a perfect fit for the site.

The Director of Quickfire for Microgaming, Andrew Clucas, also commented on the new partnership by stating that signing with Wplay is a significant step for Quickfire as the company looks to enter the Latin American market and make an impact in the region. Microgaming is the first operator to be given licensing in the area and they will have a strategic advantage as their games will be some of the first to go live in this market.

Games from Microgaming will be live at the site within the coming months. Clucas stated further that Microgaming looks forward to working with Wplay.co in the future as both look to expand their presence in the region.
