A large Chinese holding company with a subsidiary who operates casinos in Sri Lanka, Zambia, and Mozambique has opened Casino Marina at the Golden Peacock Hotel Complex in New City Centre, Lilongwe, Malawi. Located in Area 13, the casino’s launch will be marked by festivities, live entertainment, a fashion show, cash draws worth over K100,000 and more.

Local media outlet, times.mw reports that Casino Marina general manager, Keith Scrace said that the upscale, state-of-the-art venue offers gaming facilities including slot machines, baccarat, blackjack, and roulette as well as four kinds of poker games.

“We are operating over 21 internationally renowned gaming tables including an automated roulette, four variations of poker and many other exciting gaming facilities. We also have a licensed cocktail bar with various spirits, wine and other types of beer and a 30-seater restaurant with Indian, Chinese and western cuisines,” said Scrace.

Also included in the offering are free wi-fi and television screens where patrons will be able to watch all top sporting events and world news, smoking and non-smoking areas, and a VIP gaming area.

Over 200 local staff were reportedly hired leading up to Tuesday’s opening.

Casino Marina will be open from Noon to 4am Friday and Saturday and Noon to 2am Sunday through Thursday.
