Today on the 4th August 2015, it was reported that ASF will be building a new casino on the Gold Coast and it will be next to Sea World.

Earlier this year a proposal was made by ASF to develop a casino resort and cruise ship terminal on Wave Break Island, but the Queensland Government rejected this. State Development Minister, Dr. Anthony Lynham noted that this project caught the attention of conservation groups who were concerned about the impact that a cruise ship terminal would have on both the Southport Spit and on Wave Break Island.

Parties have now come together and agreed on the new site, as a compromise for an integrated casino resort. The new site is a five-hectare block that is between the Gold Coast Fisherman’s Co-operative and Sea World.

The Queensland government is now waiting for the detailed development plan from ASF. ASF expect to have the detailed plan submitted by early 2016. Once the proposal has been submitted it will be open for a detailed public consultation.

Min Yang, the chairman of the ASF Group said that the ASF Consortium, a subsidiary of ASF Group, would be working closely with the Queensland government to create a tourism destination that will not only create thousands of jobs, but also attract international tourism.

According to Dr. Lynham, the new project will not have to go under an environmental impact assessment process, but it will need to through a community consultation.

Dr. Lynham also said that once the state has the detailed submission, the project would then go under scrutiny by the Gold Coast City Council.

The Gold Coast already has one casino, which is the Echo Entertainment Group operated Jupiters Townsville Hotel & Casino.
