The Massachusetts Gaming Commission has approved a new capital improvement plan of the Plainridge Park Casino which will see updates to the venue’s facilities, with a cost of $1.5 million. The plan was approved on Thursday after presented by casino officials and will mean that the venue will have spent over $9 million on repairs and updates within the first five years in business. $1.65 million was spent by the casino last year in improvements.

This year, the majority of the funds will be used to replace slot machines in the gaming house. $522,000 will be spent on new machines. The casino restaurants kitchens will also get an overhaul with $99,000 spent on upgrades to the facilities. Additional improvements will include the harness track with new roofs added to the garage, paddock and barn.

The casino was happy to be approved by the commission for the changes as it will help Plainridge Park to remain a state of the art facility.
