The Delta Downs Racetrack Casino hotel is currently in the process of preparing for a new expansion of the gaming facility that will have a price tag of $45 million. The massive expansion was just announced yesterday by Boyd Gaming Corporation and will have a completion date of 2016, towards the end of the year.

A new tower with 167 guest rooms plus suites will be the centerpiece of the expansion with the 200 existing guest rooms receiving a makeover with a fresh look for the hotel. The redesign of the property will cover the beverage and food areas with the special events center expanded to create more space for banquet and meeting events.

The Chief Executive Officer and President of Boyd Gaming, Keith Smith, commented on the new expansion by stating: “Delta Downs is extremely popular with our guests, and demand exceeds what we can accommodate with our current facility. With 370 rooms and suites, Delta Downs will be better positioned to meet this growing demand, giving us the opportunity to extend our unique brand of hospitality to more visitors than ever before.”

Smith also stated that the new amenities will give guests of the property more options for entertainment and more reason to visit. The Delta Downs will bring in many new customers with the broader experience for entertainment on-site.

The design phase of the $45 million expansion is now complete and construction is set to begin in September. Smith pointed out that the Delta Downs is a strong performing property of Boyd Gaming and serves a vibrant region of the United States. The project of expansion is Boyd Gaming’s way of continuing their strategy of diversifying and strengthening the amenities that are non-gaming, which the company believes will deliver a quality return for shareholders on their investment.
