After the Chinese  government announced further investigations into lottery sellers that are unauthorized, the 500.com sports lottery company decided to stop offering online lottery ticket sales. The decision is one that was voluntarily and should only be temporary based on preliminary information by the company.

According to 500.com, the decision was made to help the government authorities to implement the Public Announcement. During the time frame of suspension, the company does not expect to generate any revenues.

The Ministry of Public Security and Ministry of Finance are just two authorities that have announced the government plans on working together to report any activities by criminals for prosecution. To sell lottery tickets online, operators must have consent from the Ministry of Civil Affairs or gain approval from the General Administration of Sports of China. The Ministry of Finance will then review the application for approval.

The new regulations have seen almost 40 websites of China shut down lottery sales to meet the new requirements.
