Fourteen years after opening its Augustine Casino, the Augustine Band Of Cahuilla Indians has announced that it will be temporarily closing the southern California casino so that it can conduct a “full-scale remodel”.

The Coachella casino opened in 2002 and offers a selection of 800 slots alongside table games including blackjack, three-card poker and Texas hold‘em. The Augustine Band Of Cahuilla Indians revealed that it will be shuttering the venue, which additionally features a 24-hour buffet restaurant, from September 19 in order to fully update the paintwork, carpets, signage and wall coverings with a re-opening scheduled for October 16.

“Rest assured, when we reopen, we will continue to operate in our 14-year tradition; offering locals the very best value on the loosest slots around, a great dining experience and the friendliest team in the valley,” said Jef Bauer, General Manager for the Augustine Casino. “I promise we’ll hurry and, soon, it will all be available in a brand new beautiful casino environment.”

Although work on the exterior of the property nestled in the shadows of the San Jacinto Mountains has already begun, the Augustine Band Of Cahuilla Indians declared that the temporary closure is necessary in order to “expedite the project”.
