Voters of Arkansas were set to see a referendum on the ballot this November that would have decided if casino gaming could be added to three counties in the state. However, this vote will not come to pass as the Arkansas Supreme Court ruled just a few days ago that the issue is to be removed from the ballot due to improper information being provided to voters. Arkansas Wins in 2016, a group in support of the referendum, was disappointed in the ruling and requested that the State Supreme Court reconsider their ruling. The court has now responded to the request, stating they will not be reconsidering their decision.
The amendment was created to see casinos allowed in Boone, Miller and Washington counties of the state. The court found that the title of the referendum on the ballot did not inform voters that the measure would be in violation of federal sports gambling laws. Arkansas Wins stated that the sports gambling issue was not essential to the proposed constitutional amendment.
The court has stated they will not be taking another look at their ruling and the issue remains removed from the November 8th ballot.
