Earlier this month, the Star Vegas Resort & Club of Cambodia hosted the Asian Poker Tour Southeast Asian event. Several poker tournaments were on the schedule including the Main Event. Fifty players took part in the $1,100 APT Main Event Championship with Aik Chuan outlasting the field and earning the first-place win. Fast forward to this past week and Chuan was back at work in the Asian Poker Tour, this time at the APT Philippines 2017 Main Event. The poker pro was able to win yet another Main Event title, becoming the first ever back-to-back champion of the APT main events.
On Tuesday, Chuan outlasted the field and earned the APT Philippines Main Event win, taking home $19,760 for his efforts. The event took place in Manila at the Winford Hotel and Casino. ggrasia.com reported that Chuan stated that even though the field of the main event was small, it felt really good to win the event again.
Chuan faced Masato Nikawadori of Japan in heads up play with a 3 to 1 chip advantage going in to the final round. On the final hand, Chuan’s pocket aces would seal the deal outplaying the pocket jacks of Nikawadori, earning his second APT Championship ring in the same month.
The Asian Poker Tour will now travel to the Paradise City Casino for the APT Korea Incheon 2017 from August 12th to the 20th. A Main Event, and several other tournaments will be on the schedule including a Super Deep Stack, Deep Stack Turbos and Head Hunter.
