On June 18th, one lucky first time visitor to the Wind Creek Casino & Hotel was able to earn a jackpot prize of over $1 million. The casino in Wetumpka is reporting the lucky winner, known as ‘Irene’, won the jackpot by playing the Million Degrees Progressive game.

With the $1,046,368 jackpot won by Irene, this will mark the fifth time a million dollar win has occurred at the Poarch Creek Indian casino within a two month time frame. Three winners were playing the Million Degrees Progressive when the big jackpot was won.

The winner hails from Birmingham and stated that she was with her husband getting ready to leave the casino when the win occurred. Having cared for his wife for many years, Irene was happy to have won the jackpot and have a chance to provide for her family.

The Wetumpka casino is one of three casinos in Alabama operated by Native Americans of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. The tribe also offers gaming in Atmore and Montgomery. The Poarch Creek tribe are currently looking to expand gambling within the state in exchange for revenues that would benefit the state budget.
