Nevada-based multiple casino owners, Boyd Gaming Corporation, have just published an official press release announcing that the company has finalized the acquisition Cannery-owned Las Vegas properties after successfully receiving all needed approvals from regulatory bodies. The acquisition is the latest in a series of moves by Boyd Gaming to expand the scope of its Las Vegas operations.

Per the acquisition agreement, Boyd Gaming will now take over two of Cannery Casino Resorts’ Las Vegas properties: the Cannery Casino and Hotel in the northern city area and the Eastside Cannery Casino and Hotel, located in the eastern part of the valley, right next to Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino. The deal has been in the making ever since April 2016, when the company started negotiations shortly before acquiring Aliente casino. Both Cannery properties reportedly cost Boyd Gaming a total of $465 million to acquire.

Commenting on the announcement, CEO and President of Boyd Gaming, Keith Smith, stated that the acquisition of the Cannery assets together with the acquisition of Aliente will expand the presence of the company in the high-grossing Las Vegas market. He also added that the company is now in the best position to use the significant potential for growth that can be still found in the south of Nevada, thanks to their varied and strong portfolio.

The family-owned company has always had its key focus on the Las Vegas market, but has also expanded to Kansas, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, Louisiana and Iowa throughout the years. With these two properties added to their catalogue, the Boyd Gaming Corporation will now be the owner and operator of a total of 24 casinos, 12 of which are in located in the southern Nevada area.
