The first ever PokerStars Festival Korea took place this month, beginning on July 14th and continuing until the 24th. The festival was hosted by Paradise City of Incheon and provided poker players with several events in which to compete. The High Roller event just finished up, featuring a buy-in of ₩4,350,000. The tournament had 34 players unique players competing with 62 separate entries taking place overall. In the end, it was Boyuan Qu who became the first to win the High Roller event of the PokerStars Festival Korea.

When Day 2 began, Qu was the chip leader and he would not let go of his lead, eventually facing Kazuhiko Yotsushika in heads-up play. When heads-up play would begin, Qu would have an almost 3 to 1 chip lead over Yotsushika. However, Qu would not win the tournament with ease. Yotsushika would overtake his opponent at one point and the two would battle back and forth for more than an hour.

In the end, Qu would hold the lead and both would be all-in. Trip nines would give Qu the hand and the win, with the poker player earning the largest payout of his career.
